well that's awesome then. :)

are you going to be telecommuting? or what? i suppose you already are, what with them being in portland and you in seattle.
Jan. 6th, 2005 09:50 pm (UTC)
Yeah. The servers all live up in Seattle anyway, so I actually do quite a bit of real commuting to the colo and Lisa's house so we can work on stuff together.

I'm indifferent to it. Makes no difference really to me...:P

And that's exactly how we all feel that you should respond. It won't make any difference other than to give Brad more time to tinker, which is always a good thing. :)

I think if Mr. Brad thinks they are a good company for LJ then it's all a fine deal -I'm all for it!
Sadly so many of my friends here on LJ wrote hate-posts about the whole things and how stupid Brad must be for trusting six Apart won't turn everything into an expensive shit so they could gain more money.
They are all backing up their LJ and running for the hills... I FEEL SO LONELY! *sobs*

I think that they'll come back once they realize that nothing has exploded. In fact, things are only going to get better from here on out.

i hope they do. some of them I'd really miss!

>>things are only going to get better from here on out.
it's what I believe too!

Sorry, for contacting you in such a way ...
... but the root of problems with sending comments via e-mail is probably here: new LJ's mail server IP-address doesn't have corresponding record in reverse DNS zone:
$ host
Host not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

please, check it out.

Re: Sorry, for contacting you in such a way ...
We fixed that yesterday actually. You should only see email coming from now, which resolves properly.
Jan. 8th, 2005 05:09 pm (UTC)
Yep, I saw e-mails coming from another IP-ad. ...
... but it was unclear to me whether it's just a part of a bigger IP-ad. pool (including unresolvable IP-ad.) or completely new single IP-ad. you've switched your outgoing mail server to.

Well, since it's working okay now -- thnx && good luck! ;-)

Re: Yep, I saw e-mails coming from another IP-ad. ...
yeah, the new bigIPs have their own (new) addresses as well as the virtual IPs for the site. We had just told the bigIP to automatically map the outgoing connections with SNAT when we should have instructed it to use one specific virtual IP for the task. lisa figured that one out. :)

Re: Sorry, for contacting you in such a way ...
too bad your journal is in Russian [which I can't read nor speak...]...
Jan. 10th, 2005 12:40 pm (UTC)
> too bad
Isn't learn_russian your friend? ;-)
Jan. 10th, 2005 02:48 pm (UTC)
no it is not. and frankly I do not see how this could possible teach me Russian.
Jan. 10th, 2005 03:03 pm (UTC)
It couldn't, but it helps to ...
... learn it. My question was kinda artificial, I deem, you've noticed.
Jan. 10th, 2005 03:07 pm (UTC)
I once tried to learn Spanish with books. No teacher or anything. While I learned a whole bunch of grammar and words but had no clue how to pronounce it nor how it sounds in general if somebody was speaking.
so yeah uh...
Jan. 10th, 2005 03:50 pm (UTC)
What a coincidence!...
I've also bought a Spanish self-tutorial book once cause I like how Spanish sounds but it still be somewhere on attic of my attention (or in garden of my laziness what is closer to the truth, strictly speaking)... :-) so yeah... ;-)

Tears of a desperate man
Hey bro, sorry to intrude yer journo but Livejournal's "Customer service" is making me psychotic. I've asked a question TWICE and been given one of those "Dear RooCH...*click* Copy *click* Paste" answers. I hastily set up a travel journal for my six month trip, simply as a subsidiary to my main journal. During the haste, I neglected the birthdate option, being that it was mearly for travelling. Now I can't do anything, and the userinfo and such has been deleted. Could I give my info to someone who could change the birthdate? And PLEASE don't send me the same "the laws in America have changed" thing or I may cry. My main journal is fine, username rooch. It's the travel journal username twisted_tome, that has gone scewiff. It's written by the same person *cryage*

Re: Tears of a desperate man
Sorry RooCH, but I don't do end user support (I don't actually know how to fix what is broken for you.) However I do know that some of the COPPA stuff got out of whack recently so I have forwarded your message to someone who should be better able to assist you.

Re: Tears of a desperate man
It looks like the only way out of this for you right now is to provide a credit card number. We won't actually charge you anything (we'll be effectively reserving 1 penny, but that will be released shortly) it's just that people under 13 can't have credit cards, and it's the only way we have of verifying your age right now.

We're working on some other methods, but as with most things of this scale it will take a little while to work out the details.

Re: Tears of a desperate man
excuse my ignorance, but are there really other methods for this to work? I mean frankly I cannot think of anything at all! [but then again, my brain is fried already by the lovely customers I had today........]
