I went to Home Depot tonight and picked up some supplies for plumbing in the water filter and a few other bits and pieces. I now have a stud finder. You should all be proud of me, I bought the $9 model on sale rather than the fancy $30 LCD model.

I also stopped in at Office Depot (what's with all the depots) and bought a label printer. They also had some good prices on UPS's so I picked one up for Julie's mom as a thank you for helping with all the packing.

I'm currently plumbing in the filter, and the kitchen is still (mostly) dry. I'm very happy about that.

Ahh, a real geek would have gone for the $30. :P ;)

I always make labels in the store as I need them. Normally it is just one or two each year. Label makers seem like a ripoff for the most part.

Besides, what the hell are you going to do with a stud finder with an LCD screen? Seriously. I'm a big geek, but it doesn't even have wireless. Useless.

ahh, that explains why all the printers were out of tape then. You must have gotten there before me ;)

I had actually expected them to be more expensive, but this one was only $30 with a tape, and an 8m tape is $9. Not all that bad actually. Certainly not a bad price to have pretty labels on all my network jacks.

Lablemakers are fun, if you're bored. Then you go around labeling everything in sight. Then you peel off the labels and do it again, this time writing the names of things differently over and over again. Then you get bored, wonder why the hell you did it, and don't pick up the labelmaker again for a long time.

okay, so i KNOW what a stud finder is, but every time i see the moniker, i just have to laugh. cuz, i mean, how utterly cool would that be if it were a stud stud finder. you could go into a bar, point it around, and find the studs. of course, i know all men are studs in their own right, but how funny would that be? all the women pulling out this key fob to check for studs. and not all studs work for each woman.

*cough, cough* of course, that might just be warped feminine mind ;-)

I think that the range would have to be improved... it's only 3" on the model that I got. That would be a little obvious if you used it in a bar ;)

mental picture = hilarious

true, but IF all sexes were using it to find themselves a stud, then it wouldn't be that conspicous, yes? ;-)

and can women be studs? or are they studettes? hmmm.....

would you like having one of those keychain fobs that when you press scans for all tvs in range and either shuts them off or on. NOW, there's something to do at circuity city or best guy. ::lmao::
