we just put down earnest money on a townhouse. I'm so happy and freaked out at the same time. I think that I'll need to self medicate with mixed drinks before bed to be able to get any sleep tonight :)
For those of you to which this talk of housing changes is new, here's the whole story. Julie and I went up and saw a mortgage broker last friday and started things moving. We got in touch with our realtor and set up time on Wednesday to look around at places. Saw some good, some bad, and some frighteningly bad stuff. One of the places that we saw is this set of townhouses up in the Lake City area. Good price, new construction, nice looking places. We went home and talked and thought about things and whatnot. Then we went back and looked at the townhouse again with Julie's parents. Anyway, contacted the realtor again and talked about making an offer. So today we did.
And I am so freaked out. One the one hand it's scary to be making a decision of this magnitude. It means massive changes in our lives. I've been living in this apartment building for most of my adult life now.
On the other hand, the place is wired with Cat 5e. Oh, and it has hardwood floors, tile entry and stainless steel appliances. Oh, and our very own washer and dryer! (I hate having to go downstairs to do the laundry and plunk quarters into the slot)
I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now.
So, who wants to help us move? ;)
