(no subject)

I have acquired the last piece needed for my home rack: a console server. I picked it up on eBay for a song and it seems to function properly. There's just one small problem; I don't know the admin password. Normally this would not be a problem as intelligent people build systems whose password can be reset reasonably easily if you have physical access to the unit. Unfortunately this console server was built by Lightwave Communications, and they don't agree. I'm not completely out of luck however. Some fine individual had blogged an adequately detailed set of instructions on how to recover the password here. This requires a good deal more work than simply pressing a button. Fortunately one of my coworkers has the requisite hardware at home and we'll be cracking this bad boy open to wrestle it's secrets from it very soon. Until then I own a very nice brick with an LCD. Lucky me.
