long time no update

What. A. Day.

Woke up this morning at 6:50. That would be about 50 minutes after crankygirlie's flight left. To make a long and rather stressful story short, she made it to Toronto about 9 hours late. There was a connection through Vancouver in there, and I found my passport and was quite ready to drive her to Vancouver airport to catch any connection should she not be able to get on standby from SeaTac.

On top of that, last night we got a huge fright when we opened our cell phone bill. I won't enlighten you with the total, but needless to say it was not small. Fortunately I got ahold of a very friendly and understanding lady at Cingular that fixed things up pretty well for us. We've still got a large bill, but not a staggering one.

After I was sure that crankygirlie was on her way, I headed to Ikea to pick up a couple of bits and pieces which I've spent the evening putting up. Our living room is starting to shape up nicely.

a better day

hmm... I seem to be setting my mood to tired or something similar lately. I guess that it's true that I've not been sitting idle.

I actually set my alarm today so that I would not sleep in too long. I was up before 11 and got busy. I've finally completed putting all the finishing touches on the latest set of furniture we picked up at Ikea. I'm pretty pleased with the results.

After that I headed out to dinner with my parents and brother and his wife (!!!) at the Fremont Classic. Dinner was great and we heard all about their honeymoon. If you know my brother you'd find it not at all surprising that as they went to Ireland, they visited the Guinness brewery first thing. It sounds like they had a great time though. They stayed in a castle one night, which sounds really cool.

After that we stopped in at their place and chatted for a bit before I headed home. I did some cleaning while listening to an audiobook (Heinlien's Stranger in a Strange Land) and had some homemade blueberry mead. Alcohol that you make yourself really does taste better :)

Now I'm making a post, with a new userpic even. I decided that I was long overdue for a new one so I hooked up the iSight and played around with the color settings on the output. I think that it came out pretty good.
