A friend of mine has started a new business selling wireless hardware. Not the usual home AP stuff mind you. This is industrial geek class stuff. Weatherproof roof mount gear. So I bought unit number one of his Mark II kit.

It's a pretty neat setup. Basically a 133MHz 486 with 64 megs of RAM and 64 megs of soldered down flash memory. There is a single 10/100 network interface and two mini-PCI slots. The system is powered via 802.3af power over ethernet so there's only one wire to plug into the system. All of this in a box that is effectively waterproof and UV protected.

So now I'm just waiting on the antennas. I've obtained a tripod, and got permission from my landlord to put it all up on the roof.

Why am I doing this? Well, because :)

Call me lazy, but where are you getting the antennas?

I'm totally lazy myself. I'm waiting for metrix to get them in stock and I'm going to buy one from them. They are getting them from SuperPass . I'd buy one there, but they don't have an online store and I can never remember to call them when they are open.
